Sony respects railway poster ruling |
|
Sony Europe has agreed to remove some advertisements for its PlayStation Portable (PSP) multimedia console from the UK's stations.
The PSP promos were pulled from "inappropriate" sites after a worker on Manchester's Metrolink light rail system raised concerns after spotting the ad (which features red text on a plain white background) at the city's Piccadilly station.
"An employee spotted it and said it was a bit inappropriate," a Network Rail spokesman told the Manchester Evening News. "The message goes completely against all our safety messages, particularly because PlayStation is aimed at youngsters and we are constantly telling them not to trespass."
Sony's poster campaign was designed to promote the "portability and multi-functionality of the console", a spokesman told GamesIndustry.biz. The firm says it has pulled posters from unfitting locations in response to concerns.

Popcorn 2 for the PSP |
|
Roxio has released a new version of its DVD burning software, which allows videos to be transferred to the PSP.
Roxio on Wednesday announced Popcorn 2, an updated version of their DVD duplication software for Mac OS X. Popcorn 2 is priced at $49.99. Owners of the previous version of Popcorn can upgrade for $29.99.
Popcorn enables you to burn a copy of an unencrypted DVD, a disc image or a Video_TS folder. The software is based on the same engine that Roxio uses in its more full-featured — and more expensive — CD and DVD burning software Toast 7 Titanium.
Popcorn 2 adds the ability to convert DVD-Video and other video formats to video files that you can play on your Mac, or copy to portable video players like Apple’s fifth-generation iPod, Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP), 3GPP-equipped cell phones and other devices.
You can export individual video files, as well. Popcorn 2 supports QuickTime, DivX, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DV formats. Video export supports QuickTime, DivX, MPEG-4 and H.264.

More memory for the PSP |
|
Owners of Sony's PSP will be pleased to learn that SanDisk has launched its largest capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo Card to date.
