New products for PSP |
|
Gaming accessory maker Datel has introduced a couple of new items for the PSP which will no doubt be welcome among the gaming fraternity.
Foremost among the new products is the PSP Solus Pack, which addresses the long-standing matter of more storage, by adding a 4GB hard drive that is capable of storing eight full-length movies or about 1,000 songs.
The Max Media Manager will also be debuted, which ingeniously lets users convert different types of video into a PSP-compatible format.
"Our 4GB Hard Drive is the ideal device for PSP data storage", said Michael Connors, managing director, Datel.
"With movies, images and music to store as well as game saves, memory cards no longer cut it. You need a bigger solution, and that's exactly what we're offering."
Two standard-format memory cards are also to be released by Datel, which insert into the PSP in the exact same way as Sony's official cards with a 1GB card card costing £39.99 and a 2GB card costing £69.99

PSP firms up |
|
Sony has released new firmware for the PSP, upgrading it from the v2.70 version to the v2.71.
Several key improvements and advances will result from the new firmware, including expanded AAC audio support and the ability to save demos directly to the consoles memory stick.
Improvements to the Location Free Player will also result, specifically allowing those who live in locations with Location Free TV to download video streams.
Sony stated: "In order to ensure that you are getting the most out of your PSP you should ensure that you are running the latest version of PSP software."
The new software should be available from the Network Update option on the PSP menu.
Earlier this week groundbreaking new anti-theft software specifically for PSP's was released.
Allowing users to track their stolen PSP online, the new software sends an email to the users computer containing the IP address of the computer it has been plugged into, as well as the computers email address.

PSP antitheft software released |
|
Thieves who have their beady little eyes on a Sony PSP had best think again.
Software has been released that allows owners to track their beloved PSP online and sends them an email every time it is plugged into a PC, detailing the computers IP address and so forth.
The software was developed by anonymous users of the QJ.net forum, which has stated: "youresam and realn0whereman from our forums have released a really nifty utility. It allows you to track your PSP online. What it basically does is email to a specified address every time it is connected to a PC."
With the information supplied, theoretically the owner can then get in touch with local law enforcement that will no doubt pull out all the stops to get the console back.
Available for download free off the internet, the new software will even send owners the email address of the PSP thief in question.
Recently the NYPD has offered to etch an ID number on your PSP so they can identify it in case it gets taken.
The numbers will be etched on in special ink that is only visible to infrared and is extremely hard to remove.
As well as PSP's, iPods and other expensive electrical devices are also to be registered.
