PSP camera at E3 |
|
Among the many awe-inspiring revelations and debuts at the now past E3 convention in LA was the digital camera add-on for the PSP.
Rumours about the camera had been prevalent, but details rare, before E3. Scheduled for release at an unknown date later this year, the camera is silver and attaches to a USB port on the bottom of the PSP.
Tech website Joystiq has published pictures of the camera, engendering comment and speculation on everything from when it will be released to its effect on the PSP battery life.
Sony has been unforthcoming about the details of the camera; however PSPworld.com has revealed that the camera will be a stock unit that is being used in certain Ericsson phones.
The website said that the camera will allow gamers to stream video to the PlayStation 3 and will use the PSP's Wi-Fi support.
Taking still photos with the camera will also be an option according to PSPworld.com.

Protoype of $100 laptop released |
|
A prototype of the so-called '$100 laptop' made by the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) organisation has been produced.
The OLPC is aiming to make over five million of the devices and sell them to the governments of developing nations so that children of the third world will be able to own their own PC.
Massachussettes-based OLPC will not make the $100 laptop available for individual sale, rather it will be released through government programmes.
OLPC stated: "The first 15 A-Test boards were successfully assembled and tested and are en route to OLPC's facility in Cambridge.
"Now 500 developer boards are being assembled in Shanghai and will be shipped as they are tested."
Incorporating a tough rubberised exterior, and a hand crank to generate its own power, the laptop will feature a 500 Megahertz processor, 500 MB of Flash and four USB ports.
The laptops have swivel and tilt screens and come in several vibrant colours, including orange, blue and yellow.
Interest in the laptop has already been shown by the governments of Thailand and Brasil.

New products for PSP |
|
Gaming accessory maker Datel has introduced a couple of new items for the PSP's which will no doubt be welcome among the gaming fraternity.
Foremost among the new products is the PSP's Solus Pack, which addresses the long-standing matter of more storage, by adding a 4GB hard drive that is capable of storing eight full-length movies or about 1,000 songs.
The Max Media Manager will also be debuted, which ingeniously lets users convert different types of video into a PSP's-compatible format.
"Our 4GB Hard Drive is the ideal device for PSP's data storage", said Michael Connors, managing director, Datel.
"With movies, images and music to store as well as game saves, memory cards no longer cut it. You need a bigger solution, and that's exactly what we're offering."
Two standard-format memory cards are also to be released by Datel, which insert into the PSP's in the exact same way as Sony's official cards with a 1GB card card costing £39.99 and a 2GB card costing £69.99
